Ahhh, young love. Or old love.
Love is everywhere. It’s at the amusement park, on the beach, in the theater, and even next door. Though there are other forms of affection, whether it be familial or platonic, today we’ll be focusing on romance. Setting the mood with candles and a fancy dinner are simply one step in the process. We all know about bringing a date to a movie, but a video game can be just as effective. Just the two of you at your place, the moon in the sky, sitting next to one another. As the two of you grow old and grey, you will look back on your memories of each and every date fondly. This catalog can even make for some fun anniversary activities.
You’re reading the Esteemed Steam Games blog, giving inspiration to gamers for all kinds of different topics. For tonight’s feature program, we will be loading Cupid’s quiver with a list of co-op games on Steam to play with your significant other. You and your sweetie can snuggle close and have a wild, wild ride.

What can be more romantic than fighting an army of barbarians? Castle Crashers has got to be one of the most romantic games out there… Okay maybe not, but you can’t deny that this game is an absolute blast!
Besides, your partner should share at least some common interests, so why not bond over blowing things up? Collect unique weapons, level up your strength, health, and magic as you fend off hordes of thieves, skeletons, bears, fish people, robots, and more. You must go on this quest to defeat the crystal-stealing Dark Wizard and his horde to save the princesses of the kingdom. Beware! The land is rife with fierce bosses as well, ranging from brutal war machines and giant ears of corn, to sovereigns of ice, and even to draconic puppet masters. This is a game filled with adventure (as well as battle minigames and shops).

We all know about the main love languages. Words of affirmation, physical affection, gifts, acts of kindness… Food is on that list. Dinner dates are a staple of romance, so why not combine it with the gaming experience? Overcooked 2 is a co-op strategy party game where you take on the roles of chefs working in different levels/restaurants. Each map will feature its own recipes and various obstacles, requiring lots of quick, efficient communication, and highlighting the strength that both hold in a relationship.
You can also combine Overcooked with the trend of culinary experience dates. Cook meals based on the game as you play. Start with a salad course, make a nice soup, some sushi, even more. Take your date on a culinary experience to set the mood.

The stories we tell almost always feel like they leap completely off the page and come to life. All kinds of games let us dive into their stories, but this game lets us do so in the most literal sense possible. In Split Fiction, the two of you play as two aspiring writers, Mio and Zoe – one in medieval fantasy, one in science fiction – as they find themselves trapped in the worlds of their own creation. This game requires two players to play through each section. Ride dragons one second, and laser bikes the next. You don’t even stop there! Become pigs, answer security questions, go completely crazy and don’t let anyone stop you. Let’s put it this way; if you and your date are not being surrounded by killer robots and goblins who are firing spells and rockets at you, is it really a date? Better to not take that chance and set the mood with explosions.

Well, someone’s been a busy little bee, huh? Going out there and meeting a special someone to buzz around the beautiful flower patches with? Well we have just the game for you! In this Bee Simulator, you and your honey bunny can buzz about in beautiful, well crafted environments. Pollinate fields to frolic in! Bee wary and do battle with giant predators! Make some of that sweet, sweet honey.
But wait! There’s more! Whether you feel competitive or collaborative, Versus and Co-Op mode are here to help. You might bee surprised how fun it would be to buzz about in the skies. Unite as one hive or do battle for dualling queens.

Another unconventional pick, but let’s take a moment to sit down, make like the Heavy’s most iconic melee weapons and bear with me. This certified Valve classic is known for its comedic cast of characters who round out the shooter roster. Everyone loves the Boston Basher Scout, the Russian Sandvich loving Heavy, the Mad Pyro, and all the other mercenaries with their cartoonish personalities. All the fun taunts, crazy weapons, wacky maps, and potential shenanigans come together to form one of the funniest Hero Shooters out there.
Humor can be extremely valuable in a relationship, so having a more casual silly game to reel the mood back sometimes makes the more romantic moments even more special.
Just be wary of any connection issues and/or Serverblights.

Wander into a whimsical and cartoonish world as married couple Cody and May after a mysterious talking book transforms them into dolls and forces them to trek through their home. It Takes Two to go on an adventure and repair the crumbling marriage for the sake of their daughter and each other. Solve unique puzzles, traverse platforming challenges, and fight all kinds of monsters in order to strengthen your personal bonds.
In all honesty, the benefits of playing this game on date night are more or less self evident. It’s a story focused entirely on romance, with co-op play required to progress.
So, the food Overcooked To perfection, the Castles are waiting to be Crashed, Fictions have been Split, and Bee adventurous in the Fortresses all Take Two to traverse all the way to snuggle time. And hey, if that’s not your speed, we also have a cozy collection of other snuggle-worthy games and games for other Player 2’s that we’re sure you’ll like.
